Frequently Asked Questions.
Do I need a fishing license?
You must purchase a fishing license if you are 17 years of age or older to fish. Daily and annual licenses, and additional details, are available from the state of Michigan DNR website: https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/fishing/license-info
Do you charge to clean the fish I catch?
No. I will filet, de-bone, and pack in zippered plastic bags all of your fish for no additional charge. I am also happy to teach you how to clean fish if you like.
May I bring food and drinks?
Yes. You are welcome to bring any food (except bananas) and drinks, including alcoholic drinks (21+ of course). Here’s a link if you’re curious about bananas: https://www.montereyboats.com/No-Bananas-on-Board–Behind-the-Superstition-1-634.html
Do you have a bathroom/head?
No. I am happy to pull lines to stop at the nearest dock with a toilet (sometimes pit toilet depending on the lake). Please don’t hesitate to ask.
Can I reschedule if the weather is bad?
Yes. I will do my best to reschedule fishing charters in the event of rain, high winds, or dangerous conditions. I want you to have the most comfortable and productive fishing experience possible. Please contact me with any weather-related questions about your charter.
What are your credentials?
I have a six-pack Captains License as of January 2021 and I have been fishing in the Great Lakes and inland lakes in Grand Traverse County and the surrounding areas for over 30 years.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. I have the standard insurance required for charter fishing.
What kind of boat do you have?
17 foot Alumacraft. I can charter for a maximum of 5 people (if 2-3 are children) or 3-4 adults.
Do you offer sight-seeing tours?
Yes. Popular stops include Boathouse Vineyards and Northern Latitudes Distillery on Lake Leelanau.
